Many of the veterans in my peer group are Patriots, yet we choose to live away from our native ground, through various choices. Though the term Expatriate has generally been used to refer to persons moving from the United States to other countries, I choose to take a liberal view of the term, and since I have moved from Texas to Tennessee, from my native soil to a place quite different to my birthplace and based on my feelings of self and friends refer to myself as an Expatriate.
I also consider myself a Back Fence Philosopher, simply based on the way I think and contemplate the life around me, or the world in general. Sometimes I see things a bit differently than others, other times a major difference. My perspectives have been developed by my travels both Nationally but Internationally as well. Should you meet me and I seem a bit different, it is because I am a bit different, and no fear to show it.
Tale of Two Towns
I consider myself extremely fortunate to have two places I call home within the borders of this wonderful country. I was born and raised in a small town in Texas, named Falls City, and now call a small town in Tennessee home, Livingston.
Both towns have small town America histories and feels. Neighbors know neighbors. One town the sun rises through the trees, the other it rises from across the plain. Seeing the mountains cutting the sky or the vast horizon rolling from as far as the eye can see.
These towns own my heart, both equally, both deeply. Only a person that has seen these and many other sights around the world can truely appreciate the beauty of home.
Both towns have their Hero's, My Father and other relatives in Falls City, and Tom Davis in Livingston.
